PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

Has a lack of Japanese games got the Vita off to a slow start?

I've been reading a few editorials about the Vita's slow start in life, but remember its been out there for about two full weeks, and the common theme seems to be, why was its launch in Japan fronted by a western game, Uncharted?

Sure there's the classics like Ridge Racer and Everybody's Golf, some Dynasty Warriors and Disgaea - but with the bigger hitters like Tales of Innocence R not out until the end of the month, and a decent original title like Gravity Daze out in February, you can see why Japanese gamers, already stung by the 3DS price wobble, might be holding out for a while yet.

I'm pretty sure when Nintendo's timed exclusivity on whatever Monster Hunter deal it has expires, then interest will rocket but as Sony is suffering in the iconic games stakes. Now that Metal Gear is multiformat and Gran Turismo Portable became a poor joke, is it really relying on ModNation Racers to take up the mantle?
