PSP2, Switch 2 and an Xbox handheld... a brighter portable future?

PSP E1000 model now on sale, £5 off at Amazon

The budget version of the PSP is now available, not that I'd noticed Sony marketing it anywhere. Its available from Amazon with an extra £5 off at £85. With the full-spec 3000 model still selling for £155, and most other models sold out, it looks like the best way to get hold of a new PSP.

That is, if you (or the small child you're buying it for) can live with the lack of Wi-Fi. I've always downloaded my games directly to the PSP but if you were new to the game, doing it through the PC isn't too much hassle. But the big question is, is Sony going to market this thing, (UPDATE - A tweet informs me that it was all over the back of London's free Metro newspaper for a week) and if so where - its been practically invisible since the announcement! Perhaps the company is holding off until after the fuss of the iPhone 4S launch? That is expected to sell 4 million units in just one day - Sony can only dream.
